This year's Sportsmans Dinner will be held on Friday 24th February (7 pm for 7:30 pm) at the Irvine Sports Club. The main speakers will be Willie Henderson and Brian McGinlay.
Willie Henderson is a retired Scottish football player. He played most of his career for Rangers, and spent the latter part of his career with
Sheffield Wednesday, in Hong Kong with Hong Kong Rangers and with Airdrieonians. He was a prolific winger. He also featured at international level for Scotland. Henderson made his career debut in 1960 at the age of 16. During his time with Rangers he won two Scottish league championships, the Scottish Cup four times and the League Cup twice.
Brian
McGinlay is a
retired football referee from Scotland, who officiated in 98 European club
competition and international matches. At the
domestic level
McGinlay has refereed 21 Old Firm derbies, during which he never
sent off a player, but he considers his most nerve-racking match to be the Rangers
- Aberdeen title decider match at the climax of the 1990–91 season. In European
club football he judged his most exciting match to be the Real Madrid–Borussia
Mönchengladbach third-round second-leg UEFA Cup match. In international football he has taken charge
of matches at the 1980 European Championships,the Home Championship and the 1984
Summer Olympics.
