Dunbar Rotary Scottish Night

On Monday 25th January, 29 members and friends of the Rotary Club of Dunbar celebrated the Club"™s traditional Scottish Night with an evening of good food and entertainment at the Rocks.

David Laird piped in the haggis and Will Collin gave the address with his customary verve and gusto.  After an excellent meal provided by mine host Jim Finlay and his staff, President Judy Greenwood presented the club’s Community Salver to Pauline Smeed, in recognition of her long-standing service to the Historical Society of Dunbar and her work researching and recording many aspects of Dunbar’s long history.

Proceedings continued with items of entertainment provided by members of the club, including a beautiful dance by new member Maggie Dempster.  Graeme gave us his inimitable rendering of “The Wee Cock Sparrow”, David amused us with “The Teuchter that Came From Skye” and Brian provided an unusual take on “Tam O’Shanter”.

The  evening concluded with a sing-a-long to the musical accompaniment of Sophie Bancroft and Tom Lyne.  Finally, all joined hands for the traditional “Auld Lang Syne” to finish off a memorable and most enjoyable evening.
