On Tuesday 20th October the club were given an interesting insight into the history of The Royal Welsh (or Welch) Fusiliers from Rtn. Philip, who still has a very close assosiation with the regiment. Our photo shows Rotarians Gwynn, Peter, Bryn, Dilwyn, President John and our speaker, Rtn Philip Eyton-Jones inspecting an original plan of the Wrexham Barracks.
The Regimental Museum … Formed in late 1950’s by Gen Sir Hugh Stockwell who realised that there was a need for recruits to learn about the Regiment. They took over the top floor of the keep at Wrexham Barracks. Philip went on to recount a fascinating story, covering the formation and development of the Museum in the years up until the present…. Philip was thanked by Elfed for presenting a comprehensive history of the Regiment. We welcomed as a guest of Philip, Phil Gallagher to the meeting
