The event took place at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Thame. Just over £7,000 were donated to charity in 2014-2015.
The major charities supported in 2014/2015 include:
- Thame Skatepark Project
- Thame SAFARI
- TCC2 - Thame Children Choir
- Cuttle Brook Conservation.
The following causes also received charitable donations: The Footsteps Foundation, Shelterbox's Vanuatu Appeal, Barley Hill School PTFA, Friends of Thame & District Citizens Advice Bureau, Friends of OSCAR, and APAE - joint international project with the Rotary Club of Blumenau Oeste (Brazil).

TCC2 - Thame Children's Choir
Thame Children's Choir (TCC2) are extremely grateful for the
very generous donation by the Rotary Club of Thame. They hope it will enable
them to expand their activities in the coming season, giving the children the
chance to: perform in new places such as the Player's Theatre; to learn with
inspirational guest tutors; and to continue providing bursaries for children
who would otherwise not be able to join this thriving, high-quality children's
choir.
Thame Skate Park Project
Thame Rotary’s donation money will go directly towards the
cost of the new Skatepark. The new skatepark is going to be constructed from
'free-form' concrete which will not only provide a better surface for
wheel-based sports, but will also reduce noise, maintenance, and should last
upwards of 50 years (at least five times longer than our current skatepark). It
will include the provision for lighting. The new design has been produced by a
company called Wheelscape (who are one of the best skatepark builders in the
country) and it incorporates many unique features which will cater for users of
all ages and all abilities. In fact the
Skatepark steering group members are so pleased with the new design, that they
believe that Thame will become a new 'destination skatepark' with many people
traveling in from the surrounding counties to come and use it. The existing skatepark has been in Thame for the last 12
years or so, and in that time it really has created a sense of community for
many local residents, be it young or old, boy or girl. It really has become
more to people than just a public park area. By helping the Skatepark Project
to build the new skatepark Rotary really has contributed to ensuing this vital
community amenity remains in place not only for the existing users, but for the
generations to come.
Cuttle Brook Conservation Volunteers
It has not been decided yet as to how the Rotary Club's
donation will be used as there are a number of options for this volunteer
group. They are hoping to purchase
camera traps for wildlife monitoring, a detector for surveying moths and bats,
a microscope and equipment to carry out a hydrological survey of the area.
Important - as Cuttle Brook is part of the flood plain in the area of Thame.
