Clubs in District 1240 are always very active in the local community and also in the wider community nationally and overseas and never is this more apparent than at Christmas when the sleighs tour the streets, the collection boxes are much in evidence and, thanks to the generosity of the public, huge sums of money are raised for good causes.
It's not all about raising money, of course. Christmas is a time when many people particularly feel lonely and so many clubs organise parties, trips to the pantomime or extra visits to brighten up the lives of people on their own.
This year has been particularly busy and rewarding and the January issue of 1240 News carries many heartwarming stories.
