The Rotary Club of Oswestry Tree of Light event organiser Mike Jones has announced that the 2014 event has once again broken all records.  He said "having had great success with the 2013 Tree of Light located at the Sainsbury's store in Oswestry when we raised almost £6,000 one would have thought that it would have been hard to better - but we did!"

The dedicated members of the committee worked hard for over five months on this project and together with the support of many members of the club plus families and friends we actually increased our profit (including Gift Aid) to £6,540 enabling us to donate to ten different local charities:

The West Midlands Air Ambulance, Hope House Hospice, the Spinal Research Department at the Orthopaedic Hospital, the Cricket Federation for People with Disabilities, North Shropshire Special Olympics, the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund at the RSH, Women's Refuge, the Marches Riding for the Disabled, Oswestry Stroke Club and Transhouse (Oswestry) Ltd.

This huge success was due also to the support given by Sainsbury's who not only hosted the Tree of Light but supported our bucket collections and bag-packing efforts.  Our thanks also go out to our business sponsors to whom we are extremely grateful.

The generosity of the people of Oswestry and district has once again been incredible and we are so lucky living in this area with the kindness and support that we have from them.
