Rotakids in Cumbria and Lancashire

News from the Rotakids Clubs

RotaKids In Cumbria & Lancashire

There are 54 RotaKids Groups in our District.

St Luke's Slyne with Hest CE Primary School support the Mary's Meals Backpack Project :  99 backpacks fully laden with educational needs:  pencils, notebooks, even clothes left St Luke's Primary School, Slyne with Hest on their long journey to a village school outside Blantyre, Malawi.  The RotaKids Club at the school, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carnforth, masterminded the project which is a lifeline for the poverty stricken children in that area.  They collected items from parents and friends, then with the help of younger children sorted and packed the backpacks up, all achieved in a very short time.  The backpacks were carried away in larger white bags to Stoke-on-Trent and from there to a Glasgow centre before their long voyage to southern Africa. We look forward to having news of their safe arrival.

On 18 January 2017 we welcomed another new group – Wheatley Lane Primary School, Fence.  This was a special event attended by the pupils and teachers.  District RotaKids Coordinator, Margaret Lund congratulated the children as they made their pledge and Padiham Rotary Club (who are the sponsor club) members also attended to present badges and certificates.

Lancaster Rotary Club president Allan Garrick and Youth Services chairman Mike Worth attended inaugural meetings of three clubs in Lancaster, at Christ Church, Cockerham Parochial, and Scotforth St. Paul’s CE Primary Schools.
