Outstanding Conference at Torquay from DG John Greening and his team under the Chairmanship of Jean Charmak.

Conference 2014, Torquay 21-23 March

With a theme of "We Can", John Greening and the entire conference team were dedicated to bringing us the most fun they could pack into the weekend and this they did in full measure! Well over 800 delegates joined them and were indeed inspired! Brilliant weekend in Torquay with great speakers giving fresh inspiration and events celebrating what Rotarians and their friends in the Thames Valley can do.

The anticipated Riviera sunshine may not have materialised, but the warmth and friendliness of the Conference atmoshere throughout the whole weekend more than compensated as delegates were inspired by some simply splendid speakers and enjoyed great entertainment in the 'leisure' breaks.

For those who 'let the train take the strain' it started with a stunning journey through beautiful countryside in glorious morning sunshine - all at a bargain Conference price. Meeting up with friends as they boarded at stops along the way in the Thames Valley,  we sped into Wessex and beyond with a chance to see familiar landmarks and how the Somerset Levels were recovering from the devastating floods. Although the diversion required by the storm damage at Dawlish meant a slightly longer journey, the substiute bus service from Exeter coped well and ensured we all arrived in good time to settle into our hotels and arrive at the Riviera Centre for the First Plenary Session at 3.00pm

From beginning to end, the conference was fun, friendly, invigorating, informative, inspiring, motivational and amusing. A wide range of super speakers, brilliantly staged and great entertainment. Congratulations to DG John Greening, Conference Chairman Jean Charmack and the whole of the team.
