Thank you to those clubs who sent in nominations for the position of DGN, 2014-2015.

The candidates will make presentations to District Council on Sunday 8th September.  The presentations will be filmed and placed on the District website together with transcripts and the candidates' CVs.

Ballot papers will be sent out electronically after the Council meeting. Graham Clarkson of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry has agreed to act as Electoral Officer and the results will be scrutinised by Past District Governors David Buchanan and Bob Christie.

2. Crisis in Syria   Please pass to your International Chairman

It is difficult to give advice at the minute as regards aid to Syrian Refugees, but Shelterboxes ARE still getting into the refugee camps.

Local village "hosts" are sharing power and water with their new neighbours and the local Muslim Scout Groups are helping to erect tents and lead in water supplies.

ShelterBox is doing what it can, where it can, and any further boxes (or funds) you may wish to donate to this effort would be well received.

As in all crises, Rotarians ask what Rotary is doing?.

We all know that Rotary is primarily looking at sustainable long term relief but at the same time Rotary recognizes that people also need immediate help.

This photograph taken from https://www.facebook.com/SyriaCrisisUKaid clearly shows one aspect of Rotary's work in the form of ShelterBox in this very difficult geographical and politically sensitive area.
