Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Business Meeting - Marches' Pond Project Presentation

Mon, Nov 7th 2011 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

At today's meeting, Mrs Justine Holdsworth, Head of Citizenship at The Marches School, brought 3 of her Year 8 pupils along to give a short presentation to club. Elizabeth Rogers-Leggatt, Grace Meredith and Catherine Quinn have come up with the idea of creating a pond within the school grounds, to be an amenity not only for Marches pupils but also for primary-age children from the local area and other groups from the community such as residents from old folks' homes.

What the trio are lacking is some of the know-how to bring their project to fruition, and this is where Rotary comes in, since within the club there is a wealth of expertise and contacts which Justine and her pupils are eager to tap! As Jayne explained when she introduced them, the intention is that a new Interact club be set up at The Marches with these 3 pupils and their pond project as its starting-point. To this end Jayne and Don Howard will go into school this Thursday 10th November to discuss how an Interact club would work in more detail.
