Sports Night 2024

Brit Valley Rotary Sports night well attended

Indoor Sports Evening 24th April 2024
On 24 th ‘April 2024, at The Royal Oak in Drimpton, Teams of Rotarians met to do
battle in the Annual Competition to decide who would hold the Trophy for the next
year. For several years the Trophy (originally presented by Lyme Regis Rotary
Club)has been held by Brit Valley Rotary Club. Teams of three try to outdo each
other in Darts, Shove Halfpenny, Table Skittles, and Long Alley Skittles.
A Team representing District 1200 and led by District Governor Stuart Gilbert,
competed against two Teams from Bridport Rotary Club, three Teams from Lyme
Regis Rotary Club and four Teams from Brit Valley Rotary Club. There were 36
people present and all had a good time.
Last Year, a Team from Brit Valley (led by Adrian Scadding) won with a Team from
Lyme Regis (lead by Richard Main) coming second. This year the result was
reversed with Lyme Regis a clear winner. They took the trophy and a bottle of red
wine to celebrate their win.
Brit Valley did win something though, with a two-strong Team led by Ian Ibbotson
winning the booby prize of chocolate for coming in behind the next to last Team.
Many thanks to Steve Stanners, the Landlord of the Royal Oak, for providing a
sumptuous buffet supper. A great time was had by one and all.
