Young Chef 2024 - The Competitions

Rotary Guernsey Youth Opportunities has held a local chef competition at the College of Further Education, 8 young students took park from four schools.

The winner was 15 year old Carrie Boyde from the Ladies College with a main course of Thai Noodles and Rice with fresh steamed vegetables and a desert of short bread and fresh stewed plumbs and Guernsey cream.

The Co-op sponsored the food for the contestants and the Guernsey Hospitality Association provided experienced hotel managers to judge the courses.

We also had excellent support from the staff at the College under their Tutor Alan.

We presented the Trophy and The GHA gave the winner a prize. All students received a small book of local recipes.

Carrie went on to the District competition which was held on the 24th February in Hampshire. There were 12 contestants. The standard of cooking was very high.

Corrie chose to keep to her original menu and did very well, her marks placed her 4th.

The judges were experienced restaurant chefs and they commended all the contestants on the high standard displayed.

The winner will go on to the UK finals later in March.
