Inner Wheel members and guests were welcomed to the Masonic Hall on 22nd October by Joint President Jackie Donovan for a lunch to mark the 70th Charter Anniversary of Sandbach Inner Wheel.
After the lighting of the Candle of Friendship, Past President Maureen Williams read the Objects of Inner Wheel. A celebratory cake was cut by District Chairman Diana Ayres and Jpoint President Nicola Bramwell.
After an excellent lunch President Stuart Blackwell of the Rotary Sandbach proposed the toast to the Inner Wheel Club and Greetings from District 5 were brought by Chairman Diana Ayres.
Thanks were given to all those who had helped to organise the lunch and long service awards were presented to Pauline Minshull and Judith Leese.
The after-lunch speaker was Peter Sykes, a retired surgeon, who recalled a number of humorous incidents from his days as a young doctor. The vote of thanks was given by Maureen Williams who said that she hadn’t heard a word, but, by the expressions on the faces of those present, it had gone down well.
Joint Presidents Nicola and Jackie brought the proceedings to a close with a formal farewell.
