A day in the life of a Procurator Fiscal

The Club was host to Dev Kapadia last week, who is a pretty important person in Legal terms, Dev has been Procurator Fiscal for 25 years and he gave us a good description of his role in the local judiciary system.

“A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal”. Dev opened the curtain on what this means. By report it means a standard prosecution report (SPR).  The Procurator’s job is to decide, based on police and other reports, at what level any particular case should be prosecuted, or whether a case should even proceed.  Dev’s job being quite complex, we were lucky to have such an interesting speaker.

Club’s vote of thanks was given by PP Neil Spriddle using descriptions such as fascinating, interesting and entertaining.
