Donation to the Play Pump Scheme

The Mayor of Bishop's Stortford, Councillor Bob Taylor, attended the meeting of the Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford last week to present the Club with a cheque for £656 from the Mayor's charity appeal supported by the town's Youth Council, to help fund the provision of a Play Pump which will bring fresh water to the people in a village in Africa. This was the final piece in the jigsaw that has seen the £7000 project through. The rest of the funding has been raised by the two Interact Clubs in Bishop's Stortford based at the High School and Hockerill Anglo European College (£2500 each), the Bishop's Stortford College (£1000) and the Rotary Club itself (£344).

A cheque for £7000 was presented to Rotarian John Bridges of the Rotary Club of Dunmow who has been the inspiration behind this wonderful humanitarian project.

The photograph is of Rotarian Rick Waterhouse, the Chairman of the Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford's International Committee, presenting the cheque to Rotarian John Bridges of the Dunmow Club.
