End Polio Now

Rotary's campaign started in 1985

END POLIO NOW

Rotary launched a campaign in 1985 to bring an end to polio world-wide. That campaign is End Polio Now. Since 1985 Rotarians around the world have raised some $2 billion and spent millions of volunteer hours arranging the vaccination of more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries.

Rotary’s campaign is supported by the Bill and Belinda Gates Foundation, which contributes $2 for every $1 raised by Rotary.

Global immunisations have reduced the disease by 99% over the years and reduced the number of polio endemic countries to just two – Afghanistan and Pakistan

Currie Balerno Rotary has made regular contributions to the campaign; and the sale of prints of a painting of the Queensferry Crossing by the late Richard Basker, a Currie Balerno member, together with related donations raised in excess of £10,000 for End Polio Now.
