Honiton Primary School Head Teacher

Tue, Jul 11th 2023 at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

We welcome Chris Tribble from Honiton Primary School

Chris has been Headteacher at Honiton Primary School for 5 years, When he arrived the school had an Outstanding Ofsted report but was in the bottom 10% of schools in the country for exam results.

Chris found the pupils  and staff to be lacking in motivation.  Chris has been into many failing schools and improves their performance.  He is very proud to be the Head of HPS which has 427 pupils.

The School uses the SOLE method of teaching, Self organised learning environment.    The SOLE curriculum uses minimally invasive teaching, allows children to learn for themselves, provides encouragement but not direction and creates an environment to promote curiosity. The children negotiate with others for evidence of their learning, observe and record and apply their knowledge.

Chris brought some work books of a few people.  The handwriting in the books was incredibly neat and legible, The quantity and quality of the work in the books was very impressive, not just 1 or 2 sentences but in depth information on the topic being covered.

Now the school is above the national average for exams and SATS.

The school has woodland attached to it and has recently had a 40 foot yurt installed, this has been funded from charities.

They hope to have a running track which will be available to use by other local schools.

The values of the school are the British values.

Andrew has formed a very good relationship with HPS and Chris and presented him with a Friend of Rotary Certificate from Otter Valley.  Emma will continue this good work.
