ROTARY CLUB OF CHESTFIELD

Notes of meeting at Chestfield Golf Club

20 July 2023 8am

Present:

Robert, Spyros, Ian, Reggie, Pippa, Lesley, Maureen, Pat, Kathy, Paul, David M, Andrew B, Paul.

46% attendance.

Apologies:

Dave C, Hilary, Myfanwy, Maggie, Marian, Sue, Pete, Gerry, Andrew and Jean, Chris, Elaine, Godfrey, Nick.

Guest:

Robert McFarlane – who was due to take Jean out to the beach for the first time since getting home.

Grace: Given by Paul.

Notable dates:

Gardening at W&T – 5 August - sheet needed in folder.

Car parking this Saturday – all shifts covered.

Tea by the Sea – sheet in event folder – 11 August

Ale and Antiques, Tankerton – social event – 16 August 6.30pm - £10 per head for sharing platters. Drinks extra. Sheet in folder next week. Maximum 20 people

Pat to add all dates to diary and recirculate.

Paul fed back on Strobe Park marshalling last weekend – no float or money bag provided. Andrew B to feed back to organisers.

Fundraising:

Pat circulated a leaflet regarding ‘Coats for Kids’ whereby children in need can obtain a Regatta coat by applying for a voucher. The vouchers cost £25 each. David suggested a £250 donation and a district grant application.

Proposed by Pat, seconded by Paul and agreed by those present.

David M will write to schools involved in W4W regarding this.

Social events:

Leaflet in folder regarding Waverly paddle steamer timetable. Some members had expressed an interest.

Table tennis 22 September at 6.30pm - £15 pp includes buffet – signup sheet in folder.

Youth ops:

Photo and Chef competitions information sent out to schools.

Membership:

Pat requested ideas for promoting our Club at Chestfield Open Day – 28 August.

AOB:

David M has been in touch with Canterbury Food Bank regarding District Grant – awaiting response.

Pat has also been in touch with Red Zebra

Crossroads and Red Zebra have received a £2500 donation each from Hollanby Estates.

Raffle:

Master at Arms – Pat!

Today is National lollipop day, World Chess Day and World jump day – everyone was fined accordingly.

Final toast was given by Pat.
