Meetings of Club Committees for Rotary Year 23-24 consider their plans

Thu, Jun 15th 2023 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Appraisal of the year ahead and of activities which could be undertaken

It was a small group of members who took part in this meeting, holiday commitments accounting for several others.

Hawick Rotary Club member George Hogg had volunteered as a marshal at the recently held Hop Run which was organised by “Durrty Events”. The event was held in Midlothian near Edinburgh.

The run started at the world-famous Rosslyn Chapel which took the competitors on 10 km(ish) course through Rosslyn Glen Country Park, the North Esk River, Bilston Wood and finished at Stewart Brewing in Loanhead. There was also a 5 km(ish) run which started half way round the same course and also finished at Stewart Brewing.

On the day George happened to meet with other Rotarians from Selkirk Rotary Club who had also volunteered to help at the event. The weather was really sunny and a great time was had by all.

George also represented the Club at Hawick High School's S1 - S3 Awards evening on 15th June.

The following day, Ron Smith represented the Club at High School as part of the interview panel meeting eight candidates for the Head Pupils and House Captains teams. It's great that we are able to be involved in the School's activities, through their being Corporate Members of the Hawick Club. We look forward to welcoming the pupils to our meetings at Mansfield House Hotel for them to speak of their progress and ambitions.
