A brief summary of comments on the Tour d'Ilmington

The Tour has helped  raise thousands of pounds for charities and other good causes and Club members have derived considerable satisfaction from organising and providing support to this popular event.

In 2023, we  raised some £4000 for our charity fund.  The money will be spent on local, national and international charities and good causes.  As an example, in the past year we donated £1750 to the Shipston Foodbank as well as £1071 to Warwickshire Young Carers;  £600 of this year’s funds will go to Cyclists Fighting Cancer; and we have donated £700 to help educate girls in Kenya.

About 120 riders participated and, without exception, feedback has been very positive:

Congratulations to you all, a brilliant day, amazing organisation and everyone involved loved it, a marvellous “normal” atmosphere after so long being apart from events like yesterday. You should all be very proud of giving the riders such a terrific day.

What singles the Tour d’Ilmington out from its many rivals is the signage and your wonderful support team.  Please pass on my sincere thanks to them all.  Having marked numerous routes in my life I know just how tedious it is; the temptation to cut corners is often great but the person who pays for it is the rider.  The number of returnees you seem to get, judging by the number I spoke to, speaks far more eloquently than I about the ride admin.

We just participated in the 2023 Tour d'Ilmington.  Please would you pass on my thanks for a well organised event.  As before, the marshals were all super-friendly and jolly with a great sense of humour.  What a fantastic event!
