The first meeting of club members in the New Year was designated a fellowship meeting enabling members to catch up with their fellow members after the Festive Season
The scheduled speaker for this meeting was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances
and will be rescheduled for a future date.
President Frank Quinault welcomed members to the first meeting of 2023 and following lunch at
which members were able to catch up with their Rotary colleagues after the Festive Break
President Frank spoke on the fundraising success of the club members at the pre Christmas bag
packing fund raising event held courtesy of Marks and Spencer at their St Andrews Store which
resulted in the sum of £1000 being raised from shoppers to aid the clubs charitable support in
the year ahead.
Rotarian Alan Constable reported on the club members participation in the internal golf
competition for the Ken Smith trophy and urged participants to undertake their matches in the
next round at an early date.
Rotarian Douglas Jackson reported on the number of entries received to date for the clubs
Annual International Rotary Golf Competition to be held mid year, entries are beginning to be
received and included a party of sixteen Rotarian golfers and their partners coming from the
Philippines for the first time.
President Frank together with Rotarian Eric Brown outlined for members a new event on the Club's calendar which will be an Antiques Valuation evening to be held at Rufflets hotel in March and requested members to search their homes for items of interest for which a valuation by the
experts coming to participate in this event is event could give their professional opinion of
expected value at auction. This will be a fund raising cum social event for members and friends
interested in having a valuation of their collected or inherited treasures.
Further scheduled club events will include the annual Staffco concert a proposed garden party in
mid year and the return of the schools Forum where potential speakers on the topic of Migration
have been identified
