Our one day Choral Workshop took take place at the Lutterworth Methodist Church,
Lutterworth on Saturday 9th March 2024. See details for a review of the day and photographs.

Our one-day “Come-and-Sing’ Choral Workshop took place on Saturday 9th March featuring a selection of Gilbert and Sullivan's favourite songs rearranged for full choirs with 4-part singing.  The event took place at Lutterworth Methodist Church, and 42 singers, both experienced and the not-so-experienced, turned up to be greeted with coffee and biscuits before the real work began.  The day was led by Musical Director Bill Tomkins, ably assisted on the piano by the brilliant, up-and-coming young musician, Sebastian Carrington.

A break for lunch at 1:00pm provided a welcome respite from the hard work, and everyone enjoyed the sandwiches, homemade cakes and fruit supplied by members of the Rotary Club and wives. Rehearsals continued after lunch until another break for afternoon tea at 4:00 pm. At this point, friends and family of the singers joined us for the afternoon tea before returning to the Church for the newly arrived audience to listen to what the choir had learnt through the day.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe, this is the third Choral Workshop we have organised, and once again, was hugely enjoyed by the participants.  Proceeds of the day will be going to LOROS (the Leicester hospice) and other Rotary charities with in excess of £600 going to LOROS.  We would like to thank all those who took part and made the day such a success, but special thanks go to the Methodist Church for allowing us to use their premises, friends of Rotary who helped with the catering and organisation of the day, and a very special “thank you” goes to Bill Tomkins and Sebastian Carrington for their invaluable contribution to the day.
