Visit from RC Traunstein

What a delight it was to welcome back old friends and some new friends from our contact Club in Traunstein. Our close friendship with RC Traunstein goes back 27 years and we always look forward to our get-togethers which are always great fun. And this one was no exception.

We greeted our guests at Stansted on Friday following which they had free time with their hosts enjoying trips to London or riverside walks at Marlow. Our guests joined us for a superb dinner at the Sandy Lodge Golf Club on Friday evening at which we presented them with medical books, baby weighing scales and other equipment and supplies destined for Kibosho Hospital in Tanzania. Kibosho is RC Traunstein's premier international project and is was a great pleasure being able to provide a little support for such a worthwhile cause.

On Saturday a coach full of intrepid explorers set forth to visit Polesden Lacey, a delightful National Trust house. After lunch we went on to Hever Castle in Kent before returning to Staines for dinner by the river. A really great fun day...and the rain held off!

On Sunday, Eric and Susan Hinds hosted a farewell buffet lunch for everyone at their home, following which our guests battled their way through a heavy downpour back to Stansted. It was sad to see our friends from Traunstein leave so soon and we look forward to meeting up with them again in the near future.
