Nov 2019 Litterpick with Sustainable Cottenham

Sat, Nov 2nd 2019 at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Mass litterpick throughout Cottenham.

Today a call went out to join in the bi-annual village clean up well organised by the Sustainable Cottenham Action Group.

More than 60 people turned up on the day including a significant number of cubs and scouts.

Registration and Safety Briefings were held at the British Legion Hall where routes and areas were allocated.

Black and Clear bags , bag hoops, tabards, grabbers etc were in plentiful supply .

After a weary few hours (and a pleasant feeling of having done a useful job) hot drinks and homemade cakes were also plentiful and very welcome !

Everyone filled atleast one bag  and the 3 rotarians from Cambridge South managed 8 netween them.

Pickers were encouraged to put recycleable things in the clear bags and everything else in the black ones.

It was very pleasing to see at the end that about half the sizable pile of bags were recyclable items.
