President Sandy Farquharson welcomed members to very well attended Friday meeting.
The speaker was one of our own PP Sandy Leven. Since he retired from Dentistry, People often ask him, "what do you do now you don't work"? As it happens Sandy was never short of things to do and remains interested in everything, he sees around him. Plants, especially rock plants were always a major interest and continue to be so, in his own garden and other people’s gardens, especially through the Scottish Rock Garden Club of which he was president. What he sees there is recorded via his lifelong interest in photography. To this end he and his wife Anne are always out and about, visiting famous gardens, and sometimes just going to see what other places look like. As he says there is always colour summer and winter, or curious notices to think about. Sandy reads more, books and newspapers, The Daily Mail and the Glasgow Herald perhaps to get a balanced input. From time to time a little wine, although unusual labels often intrigue him as much as what is in the bottle. As always Sandy's talk was illustrated with first class photographs, beautiful plants or landscapes, as well as amusing street signs.
Next week's meeting is on Thursday 7th November 6.30 for 7 for Speaker's host Don McLeod, visitor' host David Paterson.
