Rotary Club supports Youth Social Action with donation to IGNITE

IGNITE

A while ago, Victoria Russell from VANEL’s IGNITE programme made a presentation to the Rotary Club of Grimsby about the work IGNITE is doing with local young people. The Rotary Club decided they were interested in supporting this work so they committed some money to the programme but then went further and looked to increase this money via their international Rotary organisation.

Donation

The end result was an amazing donation of £2000 to IGNITE to help further the work. President John Clark from the Rotary Club of Grimsby presented a cheque to Victoria at the VANEL AGM on 10th October.

District Grant

This donation was started by an initial donation from the Rotary Club of Grimsby, but was added to by a further small donation from Rotary Club of Grimsby Havelok. The whole amount was then doubled after Grimsby Rotary submitted a request for a District Grant from the Rotary 1040 District. They were successful with this application and the doubled-up result of £2000 will allow the IGNITE programme to work directly with young people in the East and West Marsh wards of Grimsby to help them with Social Action projects.

Thank you

A big thank you from VANEL to the Rotary Club of Grimsby for this hugely valuable donation.

Victoria has recently changed roles at VANEL. She’s recently left the staff team to go off to take up teacher training, but at the AGM she took up her new role as a Trustee of VANEL, so she’ll be still around to check up on how IGNITE is doing!
