Club Meeting - Speaker is Carnival Coffee

Mon 2nd September 2019 at 19.00 - 21.00

Our speaker tonight is Jayne Cely Cromwell from Carnival Coffee

Our speaker tonight is Jayne Cely Cromwell from Carnival Coffee who will be talking to us on the history of coffee, how its grown and roasted. We met Jayne at the Penge Festival earlier this year, where she kindly offered to speak to our Club. The following is taken from the Carnival Coffee website.

From our farm overlooking Medellin, Colombia where we grow and produce coffee to our garden workshop in Penge, South East London where we hand roast small batches of speciality coffee. We are on a mission to bring awesome, fair trade coffee to our little pocket of South East London.  We roast daily and fresh to order.  We always ensure that we have the freshest seasonal coffee - taking you on a journey of discovery of origin, coffee process and flavours from the world's coffee belt.

Our coffee journey started when our coffee Roaster extrordinare's Grandfather won a mountain side

on the outskirts of Medellin in a very lucky game of cards many years ago.  The conditions were ideal for growing coffee.   Fast forward to today and Juan's Parents, Aunties and Uncles still live and work on the mountain side.  The coffee farm is surrounded by orange groves, and bananna plants with a waterfall seperating the boundaries with neighbouring farms.  Traditional drying methods are still used as you can see in the photo above.

We are passionate about amazing coffee and spend our days, roasting, testing, tasting and repeating to ensure you get the best possible tasting beans.  We are always exploring new ways to ensure we are as environmentally friendly as possible in everything we do. We are very lucky to be part of such an amazing community here in Penge.
