Captain Les Evans

The Future of High Speed Flight

Les joined the RAF as a fighter pilot flying Harriers for over 7 years. He instructed Harrier and Hunter pilots in the arts of combat and weapons delivery before graduating as a test pilot from the Empire Test Pilots School in 1985 and spent 4 very interesting years as a research test pilot with the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Bedford and Boscombe Down.

On leaving the RAF Les joined British Airways as a Boeing 747 pilot for 2 years before becoming a training co-pilot. He flew Concorde for 4 years until its end of service in 2003, flying the last commercial Concorde service from London to New York in October 2003. Afterwards he was promoted to Training Captain on the Boeing 757/767 fleet. He retired from BA in July 2006.
