Another Successful Charity Golf Day

For 17 years now the Rotary Club of Kilrymont St Andrews has hosted its major fund-raising annual event, a Charity Golf Day.

The 2019 event took place in glorious sunny conditions on Monday 28th October at Kingsbarns Golf Links, attracting 112 golfers from all over the UK. Competitors came from as far afield as Bristol, Surrey, Campbeltown and Inverness to play for prestigious individual and team prizes.

The Grand Match competition is fought out by teams representing England, South Scotland, Midlands Scotland and North Scotland.

The event regularly raises in the region of £6000.00. In addition to entry fees and raffle income, the figure is boosted each time by sponsor donations from a wide variety of local and regional businesses.

The funds raised are distributed to local charities. This year, the nominated recipients are Fife Young Carers, Friends of Craigtoun Park and TCCL Lodge (Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia holiday home sited in St Andrews).

Rotary District 1010 Governor Alastair McNair travelled from Aberdeenshire to support the Charity Day and to present trophies and other prizes to winners.

Winning golfers for 2019 were;

Longest Drive Lady at the 18th – Fiona Campbell

Longest Drive Man at the 18th - Stevie Neilson

Most Accurate Drive at the 9th -   Tony McNally

Individual Leading Lady winning The Morris Quaich – Mandy Allan

Individual Leading Man winning The Kilrymont Vase – Iain Friel

Grand Match Team North Scotland winning The Chesterhills Claret Jug.

Kilrymont Rotary are delighted to thank not only the players but the many businesses and individuals who gave both time and money to aid the deserving causes funded by the event.
