Tonight's special guest at the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw was Jo Pawley, District Governor of Rotary District 1020. Jo, a lawyer by profession, is also Past President of Eyemouth and District Rotary Club.
In creating a successful Rotary Club, Joe said to remember that family comes first, work comes second and, if possible, Rotary third and participation in Rotary should not be at the expense of your family or your work. In fact, she said that it’s great to include your family as much as possible.
She asked Rotarians to show personal initiative as success depends on their leadership. We have to be enthusiastic as it is contagious. Clubs have to develop a plan that has clear objectives and control the Club’s focus, avoiding doing too many things at once. Rotarians have to enjoy themselves, as laughter goes along way.
Turning to membership, she said that it is important to recruit Rotarians, not just members, who will promote the ideals of Rotary, and, as Rotarians, we need to be positive at all times.
Jo presented Senior Vice President Katrina Gibbons with her five year RYLA mentors badge.
Past President Paul Begley updated members with the results of the five Pigeon Derby Races that had taken place over the summer. The overall winner was Paul, himself, with Ronnie Moore, second, Jane Allan and David McLeod, joint third, Peter McCrossan, fifth, and High Graham, sixth.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Paul Begley'What We Do' Main Pages:
