Club BBQ with the Inner Wheel

Tue, Jun 18th 2019 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Glebe House Acton by kind permission of Gerald and Deanna Emerton

Our BBQ was held  in pouring rain, which is not unusual for this annual event at Gerald & Deanna Emerton’s, this year we invited Inner Wheel members to join us, who kindly provided the puddings. A profit of £592 was raised and shard with the Inner Wheel.

As it is now becoming customary to present Paul Harris Fellowships at such an occasion and this year four worthy members received their awards:-

  1. Robin Latham. Robin joined the Club in 1990 and was President in 1998 and has continually supported Community Service and International Projects. Helping and organizing a number of money raising ventures including Metal Detecting Days, Car boot sales and Car Parking, often providing the facilities too.
  2. Richard Morgan-Wynne   Richard joined the Club in 2011 and was President 2011-12 and he has been Community Chair organizing the Old Folks Lunch Theatre Visits and the BBQ for many years.  In the community, he has been heavily involved, including supporting The Nantwich Food Fair and The Nantwich Show and has been Chairman of the Alms Houses Charity for a number of years.
  3. Tony Hoy   Tony joined the Club in 2011, and has been a very active member, Chairing the International, Environment, Foundation Committees. He was President 2017-18, taking office even though he had a number of outside commitments at the time. He has worked closely with the Nantwich Partnership, is a Trustee of St Luke’s Hospice and is an active member of Nantwich Players. In addition he was Chairman of District 1050 International Committee for three years until we moved to District 1080
  4. Rod Stokes   Rod joined the Club in 2006, transferring from the Marlborough Club.  When he joined us, he was already a PHF. He immediately accepted office within the Club with his first appointment as Chair of the International Committee.

Within a year or two he was also appointed Chair of the District 1050 International Committee.        This was followed by moving up to become Assistant Governor, a position he held for several years until the move to District 1180.  To facilitate a smooth change he continued with the AG job in the new District at the same time resisting attempts to get him to stand for Governor.  He has however continued to be active within District 1180, doing various jobs and very much been our Clubs liaison with it.

In the meantime he has always been very active within the Club, becoming President in 2015, and in 2016, he became Secretary.  A position he still holds.  He has been an invaluable member.

In addition to Club and District he has attended most District Conferences, a number of Rotary GB&I ones    and several International Conventions.  He has been very much our link with the Rotary world.
