Rotary Entertains 2019
Around 160 guests were treated to afternoon tea and hours of musical entertainment at Norton Knatchbull School when Ashford Rotary Club held its traditional 'Rotary Entertains' event.
This event has been running for over three decades and, whilst some guests have been returning year on year, there were many new faces in the audience from clubs and organisations around the town.
Wayne Bridle and Harriet Rogers, both local vocalists, sang familiar songs to entertain the audience before tea, and proceedings were brought to a close by the Ashford Community Choir singing songs from the shows.
The behind the scenes kitchen was a hive of activity as afternoon tea was put together by friends and members of the Rotary Club. In recognition of her help in the kitchen at such events and to say thank you on behalf of members, Club President, Peter Gammon, presented Alex Tatkowska with a certificate and bouquet of flowers.
Peter also gave a Community Award to Ray Ashman from St John, who has worked at community events across the borough for a number of years and is a familiar face to many people. He joined St John over 50 years ago as a volunteer, managing to fit in his duties around a full time job, and was last year given the Brabourne Village Award for services to his home village. Thanks were given to Ray and the other volunteers from St John, for all their help with Rotary events and Rotary Entertains in particular.
