Willow Johnson raises £850 for The Yellowmen of Senlac Rotary Club

The Yellowmen of Senlac Rotary is £850 to the better thanks to the efforts of 20-year-old Willow Johnson, a student from Crowhurst who is in her second year of reading Clinical Exercise Science at Bournemouth University. Willow, a passionate supporter of the Yellowmen and a Yellowman in her own right, decided to help the charity and the Pokot people of Kenya by raising money through her own efforts by running in the Hastings half marathon. As a result she presented a cheque for £850 to Yellowmen organiser, Eddie McCall and Senlac President, Dave Miles at the club’s meeting on Wednesday 24th April. Eddie was pleased to receive the cheque, “It was an amazing effort by Willow and I am so grateful to her. The money will help us continue the good work we do to help the poorest of the poor in Kenya.

Willow was part of the team to visit Kenya two years ago. Her time in Pokot, the area supported by the Yellowmen, was spent with the education team helping in classes and running an art class. She loved her time in the area; “The Yellowmen is a great cause, providing well needed money to the people of Pokot. While I was over there I was amazed at seeing all the work the Yellowmen have achieved. I was most impressed with a science lab that had recently been finished. It was great seeing the girls with their summer dresses that had been provided by the Yellowmen. It would be fantastic to see children in uniform in all the schools”.

The club congratulates Willow on her terrific effort and the support she gives to the Yellowmen.
