Southern Cotswold Young Musician Competition
Nine Rotary clubs facilitate this competition which is now in its 16th. Year. We enable students to showcase their talents to an appreciative audience in a non-threatening environment. The winner then qualifies for the Rotary District Final which in turns progresses to the Regional final.
This year the finals were held at Westonbirt School on Sunday 24th. February.
The audience enjoyed a varied programme from the five contestants. The winner was Simon Crew from Cirencester College, who was third last year, – he plays with Corinium Guitars. Simon now qualifies for the Regional Finals to be held on Sunday 31stMarch at Dean Close School, Cheltenham.
Rachel Mapp, pianist from KLB, Wootton-u-Edge was second, with Lizzie O`Brien, an accomplished violinist third. The programme was completed by Lucas Jury on drums and Thomas Newbold, piano - all talented students.
