We occasionally hold a business meeting away from our usual venue. Today’s was held at The Black Bull in Rainsford Road. Only one member failed to turn up; we don’t know whether he went to the wrong place or whether he simply forgot.
The members approved the Club and Trust Fund accounts and some suggested donations to good causes.
First Vice President Francis Whitbread, the Chair of our Administration Committee, drew attention to some forthcoming events and reported that there was little change in our member who suffered a stroke last year. The member who suffered two strokes within the last two weeks is back home and improving.
Jenny Black, the Chair of the Membership Committee said that people who visited our Club often commented on its friendliness. There are currently two further people considering joining.
Stan Keller, Chair of the Public Image Committee, told us that the District Handbook for 2019-20 had been published and the Handbook for our city’s Rotary Clubs had been sent for printing. On behalf of the Community & Vocational Committee their Chair, Philip Goodman, asked for volunteers to help at the Senior Guests’ Party to held early next month and 2nd Vice President Janice Goodman, Chair of the Youth Service Committee, spoke about the Young Musician and Youth Speaks: A Debate competitions.
The highlight of the proceedings was the induction of our newest member, Andrew Vince, by President Anne. Andrew has been attending as a guest for some time; we were delighted to welcome him as a member.
