Lunch time meeting - AGM

On Thursday 18th April 2019 President Anne Sampson, welcomed 14 Cub Rotarians to this our lunch time meeting held in the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

Seven apologies for absence were received.

On reception was Geoff Sampson who also said grace.

Wilna Roger advised that she had been invited by the Heritage Centre to give a talk on Rotary also that the Young Technologist competition will be getting judged shortly. The Thrift “Shop” stall in the Glenrothes Town Centre outside Argos in conjunction with “Love Oliver” will take place on Saturday 11th May 2019 and the Awards evening on the 30th May 2019.

Iain Haywood confirmed provided all monies were forthcoming we should have raised £4700.

President Anne brought the meeting together as the main focus for today was the club’s AGM as she confirmed the leadership team for the Presidential year from July 2019- June 2020. President Ewen Macdonald, Senior Vice President Geoff Sampson, JVP to be appointed, Secretary Anne Sampson, Treasurer Geoff Sampson along with a Council Team rather than individual Council Chairs.

At this stage President Anne asked Incoming President Ewen if he would like to speak about his vision for next year. He spoke about the importance of stabilising the club and the importance of fellowship and growing membership, with diversity and becoming more involved in the community.

Over numerous months President Anne had been involved in numerous discussions in arranging for our club to get Charity Status and as such we needed agreement from the club by

Adding a Bylaw relating to Attendance

Amending a Bylaw concerning meetings

And to establish a charitable Trust Fund

These were all passed unanimously.

Walter Fletcher Budget controller discussed the accounts for the nine months to 31st March 2019 and the General Fund Budget for the Year to 30th June 2020

This coming week Thursday 25th April 2019 is the Clubs evening meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes meeting at the earlier time of 6.15pm for commencing promptly for a 6.30 pm start. Our speaker this week is Kecia Mcdougall who recently won the Best Craft Distiller Award at the Apex Hotel in Dundee who will be talking about her business. A distillery which makes everything from start to finish in Tayport. We will also be inducting another new member Shirley Paterson.
