On Wednesday 23rd January 2019, over 40 members, partners and friends of Leatherhead Rotary Club, many in traditional Scottish dress, enjoyed an excellent evening of Scottish singing and poetry, together with a superb three-course meal (including, of course, the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties with a 'wee dram' of whisky) at the club's annual Burns Night Supper at Effingham Golf Club, to celebrate the 260th anniversary of the birth of Scottish poet, Robert Burns, on 25th January 1759.

The 'Immortal Memory to Robert Burns' was given by Rotarian Simon Edmands, with David Slater and Christine O’Loughlin proposing very humorous toasts to the 'Laddies and Lassies'. The traditional Scottish singing at the end of the evening was led superbly by Rotarians Adrian O’Loughlin and Chery Beasley, with local piper, Roger Huth, welcoming guests to the sound of the bagpipes as they arrived, as well as piping in the haggis before the meal and entertaining everyone present with some traditional bagpipe tunes during the second half of the evening.
