Paul Brooks was our inspirational speaker on 30th November when he came to tell us about the party of young people from Chesham churches that spent 2 weeks in a South African township. Over 30 youngsters made the trip, led by Paul, to work in schools and provide vegetable gardens that would provide food for 11 months of the year.
School buildings were turned from virtually derelict buildings into attractive settings for the children to spend their school hours. The vegetable gardens were also beautify built and are already providing food for the people of the township. What was also encouraging is the way in which the project has led the people of the town to continue the work started by the young people from Chesham.
Paul founded Novi Most which provided emergency aid to towns and villages in Bosnia; for 14 years he was the Executive Director of Project Hope, working on community health projects in less developed countries; and is currently chair of The Thoughtful Path Charity South Africa.
