Club Meeting

Tue, Jun 11th 2019 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

President-Elect Douglas Dow welcomed 13 other members, and secretary Donald Fullarton read the following note from Gordon Burgess: "Could you express my appreciation of the completely out of the blue honorary membership approved at the AGM. Rotary has played a large part in my life and I hope to remain active for as long as I have the mental and physical faculties to allow me to contribute in some way to the club."

Bill Deans was congratulated on the success of the D-Day 75th anniversary concert, and he said it had been enjoyed by a good but not quite capacity audience, with both the West of Scotland Miitary Wives Choir and the HMS Neptune Volunteer Band displaying a high level of professionalism. Around £1,700 was raised for Help for Heroes and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines charity.

Bill thanked all who assisted on the night, and the donors of prizes for the raffle which itself raised £200. He asked anyone who had not yet paid for their tickets to contact treasurer Lesley Kennedy as soon as possible.

Appropriately, Bill was the winner of the weekly raffle for a whisky miniature.
