by Kevin Painting
On 23 October 2018, at the lunchtime meeting, the topic of the talk was Richard Wagner, a German composer, who is chiefly known for his operas, The Ring Cycle, Tristan and Isolde and The Master Singers of Nuremberg amongst others.
Until his final years, Wagner's life was characterised by political exile, turbulent love affairs, poverty and repeated flights from his creditors. Kevin Painting (pictured) under the tittle 'Wagner on the Run' gave an informative account of Wagner's life and work.
