On Friday 28th Mervyn Edward relayed to us, in his own inimitable style, how his recently published book ‘Walking the Beat to Nirvana’ came about from fruition to a much in demand, he hopes, presence on the nation’s bookshelves.
His idea originated from his desire to reveal his experiences in the Police Force – or Police Service as he’d prefer it to be known-to his family. In exploring how to produce a printed record he was told that the story would be of great interest to a much wider audience. From there, a lengthy iterative process evolved, involving review by wife, Geraldine, friends within Rotary, a professional editor and then through the publishing process involving Graphic Design, printer selection and then two and a half years later a pallet of completed books arrived on his doorstep. Many members have read Mervyn’s book and applauded him for his style and factual recounting of notable events, some tragic and others humorous, retold in his non-judgemental and readable style.
The Club now awaits volume two…… ‘Where to after Nirvana’??
