Selkirk Rotarian Doug Forsyth visits to offer advice on member recruitment

At last week's meeting, members welcomed Doug Forsyth from Selkirk Rotary Club who spoke of the ways in which his Club had been able to increase membership in recent years. He focused on their Information Events, opportunities to demonstrate the involvement of the Club in local and international projects, on the role of Facebook in publicising these activities, and on the pairing of new members with more experienced mentors from the Club to ease their way into full participation. Doug was accompanied by Don Morgan, one of their own newer members.

Hawick Rotary Club welcomes enquiries from anyone seeking to find out more, regardless of gender or age. More important is the energy and enthusiasm to be a part of the Club, helping to lead it forward. Attention this year is being directed towards the international charities Freedom from Fistula, 500 Miles, and End Polio Now, and on continued participation in the Lend with Care scheme which makes loans to small businesses overseas to help them grow. Our Community & Vocational committee raises funds to help local groups. If you are interested in becoming a part of this, please telephone Scott Elliot (375046) or Ron Smith (374216) for more information.
