Lunch Time meeting - Council Reports

On Thursday 8th November 2018 President Anne Sampson welcomed 20 Club Rotarians and Ravi a guest of Brian Johnson to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

There were 3 apologies for absence,

On reception, this week were Wilna Roger who said grace, Roy Francey and Peter May.

There was no speaker this week as this meeting was for the clubs SGM where members were notified of the proposed President Ewen Macdonald, SVP Jack Dempsey, JVP and Secretary to be confirmed and Treasurer Geoff Sampson for the next Presidential year, the accounts were agreed for the previous year.

This was also Council Reports where members received updates from their Council Chairs on their ongoing projects,

President Anne mentioned about the Foodbank and that she along with Geoff had taken along the collection of food 136.8 kilos also Clothing and games received from Rotarian's, neighbours of Geoff and Anne at Formonthills Park and Wilna Roger at Cardean Way. Many thanks for the generous contribution from you all. Anne also advised that she along with Community chair Wilna Roger had visited the management of the Town Centre to discuss how we could become more involved within the Town Centre with the outcome being very positive. Anne also advised that she would be at the Glenrothes War Memorial on Sunday to lay a wreath on behalf of the club. Anne also mentioned that the Rotary Club of Leven were again to hold their Burns supper on 18th January which proved very successful last year which our club had supported. The vocational visit to Moss Moran will go ahead on Tuesday 27th November.

IPP Lindsay Roy mentioned that the mentoring at Auchmuty High School was going well.

Community chair Wilna Roger mentioned the interviews with Kingdom FM reporter Lee Pirie interviewing senior pupils about the 5th annual Glenrothes Peace Walk organised by us in partnership with the 3 local High Schools. Head Boy and Girl. Glenrothes H.S Joe Pirie and Rachel Gray-Brown .Head Boy and Girl. Glenwood HS. Kevin Nicoll and Kerrie Walker Male and Female Representative. Auchmuty HS Billy Scott and Emma McIntosh. She also spoke about the Peace Walk which took place on the 8th November which was once again a great success with a huge turn out in miserable conditions. Mock Interviews, Senior Citizens Tea Dance at Auchmuty High School were also mentioned.

Foundation chair Brian Johnson mentioned the possibility of erecting a shelter box in the town Centre for display purposes, the Swimarethon and the results of the water aid project in Malawi which we were financially involved with, with the results being quite remarkable.

Fundraising Chair Iain Haywood mentioned that the Santa Collection would take place again at ASDA on 15th December. And the Sportsman’s Dinner would go ahead on the 12th April 2019.

This coming week on Thursday 15th November 2018 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm on reception will be Ewen Macdonald, Iain Haywood and Peter May. This meeting will be to discuss the future direction of the club in light of meetings which have taken place recently with District representatives on club’s health checks.
