Lunch Time meeting - Gary Macalister , Club Health Check

On Thursday 1st November 2018 President Anne Sampson welcomed 19 Club Rotarians our speaker Gary Macalister and his wife Eleanor and Past District Governor and member of the Rotary Club of Leven Jim Houston to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

On reception, this week were Walter Fletcher who said grace, May Ford and Peter May.

President Anne mentioned about the successful Fun Halloween evening held last Thursday evening when Archie Lawrie had given spooky talks, the Past Presidents dinner had been an enjoyable night at Balgeddie Hotel, The Rotary Club of Leven are holding a Silent Disco and Kirkcaldy Raith a Race night both on 16th November. The Buckhaven and Methil Club are organising a Folk Group night

Brian Johnson advised that he had attended the Rotary Club of the Howe of Fife meeting where he had given a talk on his visit to India earlier in the year when he participated in the End Polio Now vaccination programme.

Chris Grist mentioned about the Band of the Royal Marines who would be playing at The Dunfermline Abbey on the 12th December and if anybody was interested, she would organise to get tickets.

Wilna Roger advised that the Interact club at Glenrothes High School had collected 96 coats for the “Give a kid a coat” campaign – great effort. She also advised that the Peace walk would be going ahead next Thursday evening commencing at 6pm at Glenrothes High School with the service commencing at 7pm at the war memorial at the Glenrothes Town Centre.

Our speaker armed with a PowerPoint presentation this week was Gary Macalister who is on the District 1010 Club and membership development team who gave us a talk on growing memberships, clubs health checks which provides a way of creating a shared understanding within a club of its existing strengths and defining areas for improvement, club visioning to develop a strategy and plan for the future of the club and alumni development which offers an opportunity to review the clubs existing network of contacts and to create a framework.

The Rotary Vote of thanks was given by Club President Anne Sampson.

This coming week on Thursday 8th November 2018 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm on reception will be Roy Francey, Wilna Roger and Peter May. There is no speaker this week as this meeting is the clubs SGM where members will be notified of the proposed President, SVP, JVP, Secretary and Treasurer for the next Presidential year, agree previous years accounts and for Council Reports where members will receive updates form their Council Chairs on their ongoing projects,
