Warrington Rotarian walks the Coastal Path
President of Warrington Rotary Club, George Wilkinson, along with the Rotary members have taken the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation as their charity for 2018/19 with the aim to raise £3000 to bring back the Tim Parry Scholarship that was the Foundations very first programme back in 1995.
George & Pam Wilkinson walked the 180 mile Pembrokeshire Coastal Path from Cardigan to Amroth, 15 days walking from 3rd to 17th September 2018 to raise funds towards a Leadership Development Project as organised by Warrington Rotary in partnership with the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation.
The Peace Foundation began its work as a living memorial to the two boys killed 25 years ago in the Warrington bombing with the aim to build connections between young people who might help lead us out of a troubled past. This project will bring together young people from Warrington and Northern & Southern Ireland and give them the skills to be in control of their emotions, think differently and behave with a conscience. They will understand the factors that contribute to conflict, how to disconnect with conflict and how to make positive connections with others. The young people will develop the ability to open a dialogue within and across communities
Wilkinson and his wife Pam were welcomed to Amroth by the Rotary Club of
Narberth and Whitland when they completed their sponsored Coast Path walk on Monday 17
September. After 15 days and 186 miles from St Dogmaels, George was surprised
to find that it was only a 25 mile drive back, taking less than an hour, to return
to his car which he had left in Cardigan!
George also visited the Rotary Club of Pembroke during his trip and thanks both clubs for their kind support
George is the President of the
Rotary Club of Warrington and completed the walk in support of the Warrington
Peace Foundation which has been established to remember the devastation caused by
the IRA bombings in Warrington Town Centre in 1993. Further details on these
events 25 years ago can be found through the links below………………..
