Lunch Time meeting - David Murdoch Blue Chip Public Relations consultant

On Thursday 16th August 2018 President Anne Sampson welcomed 17 Club Rotarians to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

Five apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week were Chris Grist, Walter Fletcher who said grace and Peter May.

President Anne Sampson mentioned about Kinross showing interest in our Desert Islands Discs evening and she mentioned that we may be interested in Kinross’s Mary Queen of Scots Boat Race on Loch Leven.

Tracy Thomson introduced a Prize Raffle draw which was won by Jack Dempsey and talked about the possibility of a vocational visit to the poppy factory in Edinburgh.

Our speaker this week was David Murdoch Parish Associate.at Markinch and Thornton Parish Church. He has been a member of the Presbytery of St Andrews for more than 20 years and was elected as its first ever Elder Moderator in 1998/99. He is a Past President of The Rotary Club of Bothwell & Uddingston and is now a member of St Andrews Rotary Club. In his younger days, he was a Grade 1 Scottish Football referee. His interests and hobbies include, hymnology, classical music, food & wine, and travelling on holidays in search of the sun! His chosen subject surprisingly was about refereeing and some of the many funny incidents which happened during his previous career as a grade 1 Football referee.

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Rev Alistair McLeod.

This coming week’s meeting on Thursday 23rd August 2018 will be a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm on reception, will be Chris Grist, Roy Francey and Peter May, our speaker this week will be Graham Meacher speaking about the Fife Pilgrims Way Starting at Culross and North Queensferry, the 64 mile path takes in spectacular views of the Highlands, the Coast, Forth and Tay Estuaries and the Lomond Hills. It passes medieval landmarks, industrial landscapes and historic picturesque villages on its way to St. Andrews. .
