//The annual Rotary Duck Race took place on the 26th August and despite the
atrocious weather was a great success. 1670 members of the public
contributed to the day with the purchase of ducks and lending great
competitiveness to the occasion. The winners were as far afield as Bathgate
and Leeds There was also " 93 participants in the Corporate Race won by the
local snack operation SnakAtak
As convenor of the event I should like to thank the public, Sea Cadet Unit, my fellow Rotarians and all who made this event such a success and once again cemented it in the calendar of summer events in Kirkcudbright" //
PR Note;-
Now we know where the saying "Water off a Ducks back" comes from....the wind did not materialise and force the postponement, but the rain did arrive and boy it rained and rained. Thanks to the Sea Cadet Unit who did an amazing job under difficulty conditions, thanks to the ladies of our Visit Scotland Tourist Information Office, who sheltered our dressed corporate ducks from the heavy rain, We must also thank the Harbour Master and HM Coastguard, all you members of the public who purchased racing ducks, fancy dressed corporate ducks and those who turned out on the day. Winners to be published shortly..and here they are ;-
The result of the fancy dressed ducks are as follows;-
1st. JSF Miss Galloway 2018
2nd. 212 Paul Ives
3rd. 171 Ruth McMorran with Tax Detuctable
Congratulations to all
