Cooden Beach Hotel

The Club held its Annual Frugal Supper on Wednesday, 22nd November with members forgoing their usual one course meal and having bread and soup instead. It is a time when the club thinks of those who are starving in the world or who are suffering continuing misfortunes. The supper raises money with the cost of the normal meal being donated along with other contributions made on the evening to Rotary’s own charity, The Rotary Foundation.

Foundation money is used “To make the world a better place” and may be used to improve worldwide health care, such as the eradication of polio, assist with education and health matters and help in economic and development. Following the bread and soup supper, kindly donated by the owners of the Cooden Beach Hotel, Lesley and James Kimber, members could buy a bag of appetising goodies to fill both appetite and funds. The evening ended with a “Day at the races” video game.

The evening was organised by Rotarians Laurie May, Rob Sheppard and the Foundation Committee and raised nearly £360 for Rotary Foundation.
