Club Meeting — Rena MacRaild

Tue, Oct 30th 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Rena MacRaild of Argyll Citizens Advice Bureau spoke about support for Armed Forces veterans, and Derek Hall gave the vote of thanks.

President Mike Jane welcomed twelve other members, and guest speaker Rena MacRaild of the Argyll Citizens Advice Bureau in Dunoon.

Attendance sheets were circulated for the Wine Tasting in the Commodore Hotel on Friday November 16 and the Joint Christmas Dinner in the Rosslea Hall Hotel, Rhu, on Monday December 17. The sheets will be passed round again for the next two weeks. Derek Hall asked for raffle donations for the Wine Tasting.

Alastair Wilson now has the crocus quorms for sale in aid of PolioPlus, at £5 per bag of 100, and would welcome suggestions of community groups who might like some donated to them.

The president announced that at its pre-lunch meeting the Board had approved the transfer of Liz Talbot's Rotary membership from the Bedford de Parys club to the Helensburgh club, and it is hoped that she can be inducted on Tuesday November 13.

Rena MacRaild spoke about support for Armed Forces veterans in Argyll and Bute, with advice available through the Armed Forces Advice Project on pensions, housing, debt, benefits, health issues and personal relationships — covering a wide field except for legal matters. Similar help is available to over 55s through the Unforgotten Forces Project. Derek Hall proposed the vote of thanks.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Graham Smith.
