John Morton installed as Club President for 2018/19

John became club President at a meeting held at his home in Woodseaves on 2nd July 2018.

John Morton congratulated on his appointment as Club President by outgoing President Sylvia Keris.

John is a Sheffield man by birth, but has lived in a number of locations in the UK. He is an experienced Rotarian, holds Paul Harris Fellow honours and is a past member and President of Tavistock Rotary Club. John and his wife Judy moved to nearby Woodseaves where they have also become active in village life since moving from Tavistock 3 years ago.

At the same meeting Rotarian / Councillor Brian Price was made a Paul Harris Fellow for his dedicated contributions to the community and his support for The Rotary Club of Eccleshall Mercia, of which he was a founding member (2010). The award was presented by retiring President Sylvia Keris at a meeting of the Club on 2nd July 2018. Brian was Mayor of Stafford in 2007 and Deputy Mayor on 2 occasions including 2017 and has served on Stafford Borough Council since 1987.  Brian hails from nearby Tittensor and is a councillor for Swynnerton and Oulton Wards.

In praising Sylvia for her enthisastic contribution to club activities during her year, which included raising of over £2,000 for the 'End Polio' campaign with a canal towpath walk of the 4 Counties Ring.  John also mentioned Sylvia's activities as a mascot for the Club's 'Hook a Duck' stand, which included where children enjoyed having a go at hooking a duck at the High Offley Church Fete held on 1st July.  In recognition Sylvia was presented with 2 gifts:
